Your first visit to Body Balance
The entrance to our clinic is situated at 25 Marshland Road. This is opposite the main entrance to the Palms Shopping Centre. We share rooms with Palm's Dental so don't get confused by this. There is parking both at the front of our building and behind the Audiologist's. There is plenty of space.
If it is your first visit to Body Balance, just let the receptionist know and she'll invite you to fill out the Confidential Health History Forms (or print them off now to save time on your first visit - New Patient Forms. This can take up to 10 minutes depending on how complex your health history is. If you have any questions about the forms just ask the receptionist and she'll be happy to help out. Dr Sutherland is a registered ACC provider and if your complaint is the result of an accident you can fill out an ACC form at the same time. You will be called into the doctor's room to meet Dr Sutherland. He will greet you, refer to your completed case history questionnaire, and guide you through a process of discussing your health concerns, current injuries and relevant medical history. He will then discuss whether chiropractic can assist you with your health concerns. If chiropractic is deemed to help then Dr Sutherland will record blood pressure, ranges of motion, specific nerve reflex tests and specific joint mobility challenge tests. If a spinal x-ray examination is considered appropriate, taking into account recent trauma injury, or specific joint or nerve reflex findings, then Dr Sutherland can refer you for this.
When he has all the relevant information to help you Dr Sutherland will discuss the results of the consultation and outline a plan of care to help you. Feel free to ask questions - BodyBalance Chiropractic is an information-rich environment and the more you know about your body the more likely you are to succeed with your goals. If you are happy with your plan of care he can proceed with treatment. The first visit can take between 30 and 60 minutes depending on the severity of your case. Subsequent visits are scheduled at the end of the treatment session at the same time as payment.
Regular visits:
Regular visits are often needed to correct a long-standing neurological and joint problems. Each visit builds on the one before it so it is important you attend your visits. A patients' care plan is catered specifically to that person and each plan is based on extensive experience with that particular problem. It is important you understand how long it may take to correct your problem so please ask if there is anything you don't understand. |

If you have been to Body Balance Chiropractic before the visits tend to be shorter in duration. A regular chiropractic visit will typically take about 15 minutes. Once all the information is gathered on the first visit and Dr Sutherland knows what the problem is he can work quickly to correct it.
