Carpal Tunnel and Chiropractic Care

Carpal tunnel syndrome is the result of the median nerve being compressed at the carpal tunnel. The carpal tunnel is made up the wrist bones (the carpals) and the carpal ligament.

The median nerve and the tendons that flex the fingers and the wrist pass through this tunnel. Misalignment of the carpal bones is a common cause of the tunnel putting pressure on the median nerve. The result is altered sensation in the fingers of the hand. Symptoms can vary from numbness, to pins and needles to inability grip objects (e.g. hard to pick up a frying pan).

Chiropractic can help be restoring normal motion and position of the carpal bones which takes the pressure off the median nerve allowing it to function properly. It is easy and cost-efficient and doesn’t require invasive surgery.
